I have always loved Liam's playing but we have rarely played together and this opportunity came up and the venue has a decent piano. We discussed doing some Thelonious Monk pieces and standard songs and I think we had a brief run through before the performance so the gig felt very spontaneous with very little preparation. It was never intended to be released but a student came to the gig and recorded it.
Now seems the right time to release it. I am really pleased to document some improvising with Liam.
