During a wonderful week of staying in Slovenia with guitarist Samo Salamon and his lovely family he set up four recording sessions. This is the first to be released where he played electric guitar with me. We had never played before or met in person until that week in August 2023. He had interviewed me online a few months before and invited me to stay. I feel this is beginning of a great musical relationship and friendship.
The music was totally improvised yet much of it sounds composed. That is a good sign. Also the recording quality is good and Samo was responsible for that too! He has great ears and captured the music and our sounds perfectly.
His recordings featuring many international collaborators can be found on his bandcamp page and his many interviews with jazz musicians from all over the world can be seen on his youtube channel. Samo has extensive knowledge of many different scenes including the UK, NY and Europe. A jazz historian and scholar like myself! A kindred spirit.
